The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a robbery that happened at the Home Depot on Elmira Road.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with employees who reported seeing a suspect- pushing a shopping cart with a large amount of unpaid merchandise out of the store.
The employees said they followed the suspect outside the store where they attempted to confront him for not paying for the merchandise.
At that point, the suspect produced a knife and threatened the employees with it before fleeing the scene.
The stolen merchandise was recovered nearby and an investigation is ongoing.
