Penn Yan woman had 0.18% BAC during traffic stop

Police arrested a 50-year-old Penn Yan resident after a traffic stop on Elm Street.

According to the Penn Yan Police Department Taunja Covell, 50, was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, driving with a BAC over 0.08%, failure to keep right, improper turn, and refusal to take a breath test.

The charges stem from an incident where officers observed several signs of intoxication while speaking with Covell during a traffic stop.

She eventually submitted to a chemical breath test after being taken into custody and was found to have a BAC of 0.18%.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
