In an attempt to help solve the bus driver shortage, New York Congressman Joe Morelle addressed the U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
He asked that the requirement for a Commercial Drivers License be waived for school bus drivers.
Rochester City School District is currently unable to bus 317 kids.
While the bus driver shortage is happening all over, Rochester is the only district that can’t bus every child.
Morelle believes that the requirement is unnecessary and would open the doors for more applicants.
