Clean Slate Act could help people with criminal records have better access to housing and employment

Jumaane Williams, a New York City Public Advocate, is pushing to have a measure passed that would seal and expunge certain criminal records.

The proposal was stalled in June.

The Clean Slate Act seals a person’s record once they complete their sentence and finish parole or probation.

The passing of this bill would help thousands have easier access to jobs or housing that their criminal record otherwise hinders.
