First ever grocery store to be run entirely by technology opens in Middle East

The Middle East has its first 100% cashier free store, and it’s much more high-tech than your typical self-checkout.

The retail company, Carrefour, opened its new store in the Dubai mall.

The store is filled like any normal convenience store with snacks, drinks, and other goods. The catch is, the only way to enter is by having the app on your phone.

Upon entry, the hundreds of cameras watch your every move as you fill your bags with goods of your choosing.

After shoppers leave, a receipt is sent to their phone within minutes.

This store is the first of its kind, called Carrefour City+, and Hani Weiss, CEO of retail at Majid Al Futtaim, believes this is how the future will be with physical groceries stores.

Weiss believes there is no future with humans, and that everything will be technologically run, so the company is getting a head start on the future.
