Yates County held a special meeting on Tuesday to hear the feedback from residents regarding visitors being required to wear face masks in the Yates County Office Building in Penn Yan.
Most were in favor of it.
CSEA President for Yates County, Elaine Lewis, feels it should not be up to the legislature to decide.
She spoke at the meeting asking that vaccinated individuals be allowed to make their own personal choice when wearing a mask.
Chairman Douglas Paddock read the motion to be voted on and it passed 8-2.
Carlie Chilson and Dan Banack voted against it and lawmakers Edward Bronson, Jim Multer, and William Holgate were not at the meeting.
The requirement of masks is dependent on what the rate of transmission is within Yates County.
