Public health officials say ‘get vaccinated’ after 193rd COVID-19 death reported in Steuben County

The Steuben County Public Health Department reported another fatality over the weekend related to the coronavirus pandemic.

It brings the countywide death toll to 193, according to the latest counts. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the woman who has passed,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “With COVID spreading quickly in Steuben County, we strongly recommend that anyone who is eligible for the vaccine get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

The individual was a 91-year-old Hornell resident.

There were 150 new cases of COVID-19 reported over the weekend too. It brought the total number of active cases up to 328.
