Two major holiday events cancel due to COVID-19 for the second year in a row

As the pandemic continues, the cancellation of holiday festivities does too.

Two events have been cancelled for the season: the Rochester Museum and Science Center’s annual Holiday Bazaar and Craft Sale, and the Canandaigua Christkindl Market at the Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum.

The events were scheduled for mid-November and the reason for cancelling was announced as the increase in positive COVID-19 cases.

The Roc Holiday Village event looks like it’s still happening and will run from Dec. 3 through Dec. 26 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square.

Details on this event will be released in Oct.

One of the biggest reasons for the two events to cancel were the logistics if correctly following the guidelines. The events draw thousands of people and requiring proof of vaccination and enforcing masks seemed daunting to organizers. The event organizers also utilize school buses to transport vendors and attendees, but that is not an option this year due to COVID.
