Stolen car, illegal handgun, and controlled substances found after Ithaca man leads police on foot chase

An Ithaca man is in custody after a foot chase resulted in an illegal handgun and drugs being discovered along with a stolen vehicle.

Police say they saw a stolen vehicle pull into an alleyway at 618 West State Street. When officers approached the vehicle – the driver – identified as Teheran Forest, 42, of Ithaca fled.

Police dogs were used to assist with a search of the area. Forest was located and taken into custody without incident.


Further investigation yielded controlled substances, an illegal handgun, as well as the stolen vehicle.

Forest was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance – all as felonies.

He was held at the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
