An 11-month-old cougar named Sasha has been handed over to the Humane Society in New York City after being kept as a pet inside of an apartment.
The cougar stayed at the Bronx Zoo over the weekend for care and is going to the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Arkansas.
The owners bought her originally to keep as a pet and quickly realized that would not work, so they handed her over. The cougar was lucky.
The owners were sold the cougar with the idea that she could be kept as a pet and were visibly upset when turning her over.
The case is currently under investigation.
