Moderna shows higher rate of antibodies compared to Pfizer’s vaccine in study on Belgian healthcare workers

A study compared the immune responses in people between Moderna and Pfizer’s vaccines and found that Moderna created double the antibodies compared to the other.

2,499 Belgian healthcare workers were studied after they had been vaccinated with two doses of both companies listed above.

The study was published on Monday in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The results showed that those who had been previously infected had higher levels of antibodies than those who had not had the virus, but in both groups Moderna came out ahead for rate of antibodies compared to Pfizer.

One reason could be the 4 week wait before getting the second dose for Moderna compared to the 3 week wait with Pfizer’s.

Moderna also has a higher concentration of the key active ingredient.

The highest level of antibodies overall were found to be in those under the age of 35.
