New York State Republicans have called on Kathy Hochul to get critical financial relief to landlords and tenants to avoid possible evictions.
Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt and Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay have offered a series of recommendations that would help them gain access to the funding available through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program.
This includes making sure housing courts remain open and active, better coordination between courts and OTDA so eligible applicants can enroll in the program, and requiring the OTDA to have staff on site in areas of the state greatly effected by the evictions.
Republicans with the state have been pushing for the funding to be given to tenants and landlords for months.
