Friends rally together on Elmira City Hall steps to raise awareness for fentanyl poisoning

Following the death of a woman due to fentanyl poisoning on Aug. 26, friends of hers have gathered on the steps of Elmira City Hall to help spread awareness of the consequences of fentanyl.

Brenna O’Brian was given something laced with fentanyl, which led to her death.

Friend, Hera Voltaire, organized the rally and believes whoever gave her the substance should be charged with murder.

One of the goals of the demonstration was to help make fentanyl test strips and Narcan more widely available.

Chemung County data shows that for every 100,000 residents there are 10 opioid related deaths.
