The American Red Cross has re-established some of the disaster shelters in Steuben County. Specifically, the shelter in the village of Addison has reopened after last week’s flash flooding from Tropical Storm Fred.
“We have found that some residents are just not able to get back into their homes like they expected and we need to assist them with temporary housing. We will continue to work with the Red Cross and other Human Service Agencies to expedite services and try to get these residents permanent solutions as quickly as we can,” said Tim Marshall, Director of Public Safety for Steuben County.
The shelter is located at Tuscarora Elementary School.
The state of emergency for West Union, Woodhull, Troupsburg, Tuscarora, Greenwood, Canisteo, Jasper and Addison remains active.
