A man was arrested in Ithaca on Saturday for shooting a handgun in public.
Police responded to an call about a man attacking a dog and making verbal threats before noon at Cayuga Garden Apartments.
Bruce R. Mead II allegedly fired a gun while he was running in the parking lot while police were investigating.
Ithaca Police Officers, State Police, State Park Police, and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department arrived as backup following the gun fire.
Several hours later after Mead barricaded himself in an apartment, police made contact and took him into custody without incident around 4L30 p.m.
He was taken to Tompkins County Jail.
