An agreement that includes $850 million in funding was approved by a bankruptcy judge that would compensate thousands of men that say they were sexually abused when involved in Boy Scouts of America.
Testimony and arguments went on for three days which involved attorneys representing over 70,000 men.
One attorney for the men said he believes her approval of the amount but the denial of two key provisions would cause everyone to begin the process again.
One of the requests Judge Laura Selber Silverstein denied was that the Boy Scouts pay for the millions in legal and attorney fees to represent the men.
Originally, Boy Scouts filed for bankruptcy in February of 2020 to stop hundreds of individual lawsuits and create a compensation fund for victims.
What started as 275 lawsuits has grown to 82,500.
