Kathy Hochul has announced that New York should be a state that welcomes Afghan refugees following the recent Taliban takeover in Afghanistan.
Lawmakers in New York are also backing the resettlement of Afghan refugees in New York, citing how New York has always been a “beacon of refuge for those escaping conflict.”
The letter from lawmakers follows the incident at the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan as the United States attempts to evacuate both Americans and Afghans working for the government for things like translating.
