With the federal government allowing extra shots of the Covid-19 vaccine, the state is going to issue guidance on doses for people with severely weakened immune systems.
The state’s vaccine task force had a meeting Friday and will complete their review in a timely fashion.
The FDA approved additional shots for patients who have received transplants or others in severely immunocompromised situations.
The decision applies to only 3% of the population currently but others could qualify, like people with advanced and untreated HIV or cancer patients.
At the moment, Israel, Germany, Russia, France and the United Kingdom are all countries that have approved the third dose.
