Guidance regarding Covid-19 has been released by the New York State Department of Education for the fall.
The state health department had originally announced they would not be releasing any safety guidelines, so in response NYSED has.
The guidance uses CDC guidelines as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations.
Indoor masks for teachers, students and staff despite vaccination status is among the recommendations.
The guidance suggests the cancellation of high risk sports and extracurricular activities to be cancelled or held virtually unless everyone is vaccinated. These suggestions are for areas with high community spread.
If people are fully vaccinated they do not need to quarantine after a potential exposure if they’re asymptomatic.
The guidelines can be read in full here.
