Chief Jim Slayton says the struggle to recruit new police officers for the Auburn Police Department has been tough.
Slayton says convincing residents, especially in minority communities, that a career in law enforcement has been hard.
He says people don’t want to take on the responsibility and that the majority of rec recruits have family in the field.
The civil service test final sign up date is August 19, and the test is September 18.
