Around 2:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon police Brockport responded to a report of customer trouble at a bank on Lake Road.
Upon arrival they found an unnamed man smashing out car windows, appearing to have a mental health crisis.
He stole one of the cars and began driving toward Brockport.
Police pursued him and he did not stop and deputies became involved as the chase was called off.
The vehicle entered a canal path and at some point the driver exited the vehicle before it went into the canal.
There were 5 reported crashes in the town of Sweden and Village of Brockport that are being investigated to see if they’re related to the crash.
The driver is facing various charges including first degree reckless endangerment, fourth degree grand larceny, fourth degree criminal mischief, third-degree unlawful fleeing police officer, along with other charges.
