Police: Suspects wanted for robbery in Ithaca over the weekend

The Ithaca Police Department is currently investigating a robbery that occurred in the area of West State Street in between Plain Street and Geneva Street at about 1:15 a.m. on August 8.

A male victim reported that he was walking home towards the Commons when 3 unknown black males approached him and demanded his property.

The victim tried to reason with the suspects before being struck with what he believed to be a metal pipe. The suspects managed to take his phone and wallet from him.

An Ithaca Police Officer was in the area and noticed the victim and provided assistance to him.

The victim and the suspect are not believed to know each other. The victim was not seriously injured during the encounter.

The suspect description is very limited at this time and police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to please contact them.

Residents in the area that have any type of doorbell camera or other recording device that faces the West State Street are asked to check their system and see if they captured any footage of the suspect or incident. Anyone who may have captured the incident or suspect fleeing from the incident on video are asked to contact Ithaca Police at 607-272-3245.
