Ithaca woman began nonprofit, No More Tears, out of her kitchen and now serves hundreds of people

An Ithaca woman has started an organization that works to feed up to 55 people every Thursday.

Ortiz began the project out of her home just helping those she knew who were in need, but her efforts inspired others to volunteer to help her cause, and now her nonprofit, No Mas Lagrimas/No More Tears, has its own space.

The organization was started ten years ago and not only feeds families but clothes and supports those that need it.

Ortiz began her efforts when she first moved from Puerto Rico to Central New York, and said she knew how hard it could be.

On Thursday Ortiz and her team unload $1,000 worth of donated food from Wegmans and local farmers to prepare for up to 100 people.
