Dr. Anthony Fauci said over the weekend that he hopes the COVID-19 vaccines get full FDA approval within the next few weeks.
He signaled optimism about the vaccines against COVID-19 getting full approval from the Food and Drug Administration by the end of the month.
“I hope — I don’t predict — I hope that it will be within the next few weeks. I hope it’s within the month of August,” Dr. Anthony Fauci said of the FDA approval. “If that’s the case, you’re going to see the empowerment of local enterprises, giving mandates that could be colleges, universities, places of business, a whole variety and I strongly support that”
The news comes as COVID-19 cases surge across the U.S., fueled by the more contagious variant of the virus.
At this point, the FDA has only granted emergency-use approval for the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
