Earlier last week a 14-year-old boy was stabbed multiple times in Corning near the YMCA.
The teen has been arrested and charged as an adult with one count of assault in the first degree.
They were charged and released to a parent and will be receiving an electric monitoring system before they answer to the charge in court.
The teen who was stabbed underwent surgery and has been released from the hospital.
Police say after their investigation they found that the teen who committed the stabbing was confronted with the threat of physical violence and used a weapon with deadly force with no legal justification.
The motive is under investigation and police said any prosecution over it being a hate crime is up to the District Attorney for Steuben County.
