With cases on the rise in Tompkins County, the health department is issuing new guidance.
The county now has 79 active cases and has been put in an area considered significant for spread using data from the CDC.
On Friday the county stated that they strongly suggest the use of masks while indoors and has offered guidance to businesses.
Businesses should consider encouraging or requiring mask wearing by employees and guests regardless of their vaccination status, and should also consider requiring customers and employees be vaccinated.
New York State says businesses are allowed to implement requirements and restrictions at their discretion surrounding Covid-19.
