As the number of residents ages 60 and older increases, officials get ahead with accommodations

Ontario County residents ages 60 and older have significantly increased and are only expected to continue by the year 2030.

In 2019 the number of residents in Ontario County aged 60 and older were at 27%; by 2030 the number is projected to be 33%.


Officials are addressing the growth by creating an Age-Friendly Ontario Initiative.

A county website of age-friendly resources has been created and accessibility improvements have been made at parks and buildings. Transportation has also been invested in.
