After evidence suggested the Delta variant works vastly differently compared to the regular Covid-19 virus, the medical community had a strong reaction.
Local doctor, Emil Lesho of Rochester Regional Health, said that the data solidifies how important masks and vaccines are to help stop the spread.
In comparison to other illnesses, the Delta variant is even more transmissible than the common cold and is just as contagious as chicken pox.
Data also shows people who are vaccinated can still spread it.
Lesho says he supports the recommendation that schools require masks this fall and showed concern for the rise in cases among children under 12.
