Missed opportunities doom Rochester Red Wings in loss to Lehigh Valley

Despite a quality start from Matt Tomshaw in his Red Wings Frontier Field debut, the Wings fell 3-2 Friday night to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

The Wings and Pigs traded first inning, solo home runs. Jake Noll did the yard work for the Red Wings, hitting his 10th long ball of the season over the left-center field wall.

The game remained tied into the eighth inning when the ‘Pigs broke through for two runs off reliever Nick Wells.

Rochester answered with a run in the bottom of the inning, but a 1-for-11 night with runners in scoring position did the Wings in.

Tomshaw went six innings allowing just the first inning home run. He struck out five and walked none.

The Wings and Pigs play two on Saturday with the first pitch of Game One at 4:35.
