The Tompkins County Health Department is encouraging residents to wear a mask while indoors regardless of vaccination status.
The health department released a new request- aligning with Centers for Disease Control guidance, which indicates that fully-vaccinated people should resume wearing a mask while indoors as COVID-19 spreads.
The request comes for any community with more than 50 cases per 100,000 residents.
The county is asking all county employees to wear a mask although not required. It is encouraging local organizations to do the same for workers and patrons.
They say cases are being reported from vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
