There are currently 57 positions within the New York State Department of Transportation that need to be filled in fleet administration and transportation maintenance.
The location is in the Southern Tier area; Elmira, Binghamton and other communities.
More positions are expected to open up soon.
Virtual job fairs will be held that focus on hiring and training staff.
On top of the 57 positions in the Southern Tier, there are over 400 positions throughout the state.
The job includes a base salary, overtime pay, health benefits, paid vacation, sick leave, a retirement plan, and training.
Applicants need to be 18 and older and pass a drug test with a physical. Other possible requirements are a clean class A or B commercial drivers license and the ability to drive a dump truck within two weeks of employment.
The State Department of Transportation currently employs around 4,500 people full and part-time.
