Governor Cuomo has signed a law that will let human trafficking victims recover damages and other relief.
The law amends the current human trafficking law, increasing that statute of limitations to 10-15 years after a survivor has been victimized.
Due to victims sometimes being minors or lack of legal capacity, it can create an obstacle in getting justice due to the statute of limitations running out.
The law is backed by Senator James Sanders and Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi.
