Cayuga County sees rise is Covid-19 cases, including in children

Many counties are seeing a rise in Covid-19 cases, and among them is Cayuga County.

With children being unable to get the vaccine, cases are beginning to be seen among that population.

In the past few days, six new cases have been seen in children under that age of 10.

Kathleen Cuddy, Cayuga County Health director says the county has the highest number of cases they’ve had in months and many of the cases are the Delta variant.

Cuddy says it’s very concerning that children are being brought into social situations where they spread Covid-19 because parents aren’t ruling out their mild symptoms of Covid-19 at their doctors.

While the children spreading the virus is concerning, their symptoms have been mild.

The best thing that parents can do is get their vaccines and wear masks when they aren’t vaccinated.
