On Wednesday the Auburn School Board held a listening session and began by asking attendees to use one word to describe their feelings for the school board.
Words included unethical, political, and bullies for the board. For the district, words included unsupported, burned out, hurting, and unprepared.
In recent board meetings, concerned community members have brought up topics like how the district handles bullying, personal and political agendas from board members, and the renaming of the high school.
One of the ways the listening session was going to go was breaking attendees into small groups, but some participants wanted to give their concerns and receive responses.
The groups were an attempt at giving everyone the time they needed to feel heard.
All board members were not present at the event, which didn’t go unnoticed.
The plan is to have more meetings in the future.
