The CDC has once again changed their mask guidance.
The new guidelines suggest that everyone should wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, in the areas with high numbers of cases and inside of schools.
Currently, this general area is not considered a hot spot.
Cayuga County Health Director Kathleen Cuddy said that the number of cases recently indicate that more needs to be done, and masking may be included.
48.3% of Cayuga County is vaccinated and of the 16 new cases from July 16 through the 22, 13 were unvaccinated individuals.
Cuddy said in the last two days, 6 positive cases were in children under 10.
While the general area is in decent overall standing when it comes to the spread of the virus, continuing to get vaccinated to increase immunity will help keep rates down.
