Liberty Renewables Inc., based out of Albany, is reaching out to residents of southern Cayuga County in an attempt to start a project in Venice, Scipio and Moravia that would allow 22 large turbines to power up to 30,000 homes.
Molly Dunton, Liberty’s project developer, said community engagement is very important, and that over 75 people attended an open house event that answered questions about the project.
The turbines in Cayuga County are called Agricola Wind, and the company is also submitting proposals for two smaller projects in Madison County.
The Agricola Wind project timeline shows construction beginning in 2024 with the turbines in use during 2025.
