Tompkins County offering funding for community-based events

Non-profits are now able to acquire funding for hosting events in Tompkins County after being forced to stop for a year due to Covid-19.

Applications are currently being accepted by the Tompkins County Tourism Program for event funding for community-based events.

While programs that have existed before, like Groton Old Home days focusing on history in the area, can apply for funding, the county is interested in new ideas and programs focusing on the different areas and cultures.

Events granted funding may receive anywhere from $500 to $1,000 dollars.

Requirements to qualify for funding include the event being free to the public, Covid-19 requirements at the time of the event need to be implemented, and if there is an increase in cases adjustments will need to be made that stay within the state requirements.

Applications are accepted until September 10.
