SUNY will be doubling its investment into the Pre-Medical Opportunity Program in order to help Educational Opportunity Program students attend the medical universities SUNY has to offer.
Chancellor Jim Malatras and President Mantosh Dewan were able to meet with the first class of pre-medical students, 23 in total. Next year there will be 50 spots for new students in the program.
The EOP works to give students from underserved communities at a disadvantage access to an education.
University at Buffalo, Downstate Health Sciences University, Stony Brook University, and Upstate Medical are all part of the program to expose students to the medical field.
