State Department of Health officials are saying that an incredibly small amount of vaccinated New Yorkers account for the new positive Covid-19 cases.
244,000 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 since April 1 in New York, and of those people 8,700 were vaccinated.
11 million people in total are vaccinated.
Officials say that while vaccines work to prevent infection, people will occasionally become infected.
Officials urge people to still get vaccinated as the Delta variant spreads and hospitalizations continue to rise.
