Various big-name websites like FedEx, Amazon, and HBO Max were all reported to be down Thursday morning.
As many as 44 websites were experiencing issues around 11:30 a.m. and most were starting to come back online around 11:34 a.m.
The reason for the outage isn’t known, but Akamai Technologies, a global content delivery network, stated they were aware of an emerging Edge DNS service issue.
They detailed the investigation into the issue on their Twitter and determined they did not believe it was the result of a cyber attack.
The disruption lasted up to an hour. Upon rolling back the software configuration update, the services resumed normal operations. Akamai can confirm this was not a cyberattack against Akamai’s platform. (2/3)
