High vaccination rates among SUNY students allow for full capacity campuses this fall

SUNY campuses have plans to fully open and hold in-person campuses for the upcoming semester.

So many students are becoming vaccinated that their rates are higher than the state’s allowing for some colleges to open at full capacity.

The only restrictions remaining will be for students who are still unvaccinated when school starts.

Requirements will be masking, social distancing, and getting two tests per week. They may not be able to participate in sports or other events.

Surveys taken show students have a rate of around 80% for vaccinations while staff and faculty are around 40%, but the number is expected to rise.
