Due to heavy rains over the weekend- a boating advisory has been issued for two lakes in Ontario County.
Sheriff Kevin Henderson issued a boating advisory on Monday due to logs and other hazards in Canandaigua and Honeoye lakes.
Many of these items are just below the surface, creating greater concern for boaters.
He says boaters should also reduce their speed near the shoreline to minimize damage caused by wakes. Canandaigua Lake has a speed limit of 45 mph during the day- and 25 mph at night.
The standard 10 mph speed limit within 200 feet of shore continues.
Honeoye has a speed limit of 10 mph at night and 5 mph within 200 feet of the shoreline. There is no daytime speed limit, but boaters are encouraged to use extreme caution due to the water’s condition.
