The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America gathered for their national convention in Tampa, Florida July 4-7.
Jaime L. Sisson, of Penn Yan, was announced to be District Deputy for the BPO Elks for lodges in the Southern Tier District of the New York State Elks Association, serving a one-year term.
Sisson is the former Exalted Ruler of Penn Yan Elks Lodge 1722 and currently serves as the Supervisor for the Town of Jerusalem.
The BPO Elks is one of the most patriotic and charitable organizations in the country, donating $71 million in cash and $310 million in goods and services to the needy, students, people with special needs, active-duty members of the US armed forces and their families, veterans and their families, and charitable organizations.
The Elks pledge that as long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.
The Elks National Veterans Service Commission provides beds, supplies and emergency assistance to help combat homelessness for veterans, as well as supporting veterans at VA medical centers, state veteran homes, and clinics.
