FLXcursion will have events open to the public

With the FLXcursion coming to the Finger Lakes Region July 17-20, there are plenty of events happening that will be available to the public.

There will be two consumer-friendly wine seminars held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Smith Opera House on July 17 for $100 a ticket. Wine tastings will be included.

There will be a panel discussion, “Let’s Talk Riesling” from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. with Cheryl Stanley hosting the panel with other winemakers with Riesling tastings and a discussion of why the Finger Lakes is the best area for the grape.

Another panel will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and hosted by Dominick Purnomo, wine director and co-owner of Yono’s Fine Dining in Albany. The panel will be made up of sommeliers and feature wines paired with cheeses and food.

Saturday Night Riesling Fever will be held at 7:30 p.m. on July 17 on Linden Street for free and be open to the public.

Sunday, July 18, there will be a Grand Tour stopping at 5 locations around the Finger Lakes to discuss the history, climate, geology and agriculture of the area as well as tastings at each stop. The cost for the tour is $100.

Various places will hold wine dinners, including Avvino in Rochester, The Left Bank in Geneva, Kindred Fare in Geneva, and Ports Cafe in Geneva.
