Scholarship set up to honor 19-year-old Horseheads graduate killed in a fatal car accident

A scholarship has been set up in honor of the 19-year-old soccer player and Horseheads High School student Miranda Novitsky.

Novitsky and her father were in a fatal car accident in Steuben County.

Family and friends of Novitsky reached out to Community Foundation Elmira, Corning, and Finger Lakes to help set up the Miranda Novitsky Memorial Soccer Scholarship fund to help her legacy live on.

Community Foundation Elmira, Corning, and Finger Lakes sets up grants for nonprofit organizations as well as awards for scholarships to students locally.

The scholarship fund was posted in Novitsky’s obituary and has already been getting donations.

The first recipient will be in 2022 and the family is looking to give the scholarship to a female senior soccer player.
