State police say a person led them on a pursuit through several counties during the afternoon hours on Sunday.
It started when troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop in Chemung County on I-86. The driver failed to comply and took off, which prompted a pursuit.
That chase led into Steuben County- and after several attempts at stopping the vehicle- a license plate check verified that the vehicle was stolen.
The driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been identified, crashed into a fence behind the Corning Middle School. No one was injured, according to troopers.
The driver faces an array of charges, including criminal possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless endangerment, driving while ability impaired and other traffic infractions.
The investigation remains active.
