Swimmer airlifted after being pulled from Seneca Lake

Sheriff Ron Spike says one person was airlifted from Dresden, along Seneca Lake to Strong Memorial Hospital during the afternoon hours on Sunday following a water rescue.

A 29-year-old from out-of-state disappeared beneath the surface while boating with friends. They were swimming off the boat on Seneca Lake.

When he didn’t come back up to the surface his friends went down, located him, and pulled him out.

They brought him out of the water and to shore where EMS and first responders took over.

The man, who was not identified, was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.

His condition is still unknown, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
