Geneva American Legion leadership happy with prospective sale, development of property

Leadership with the Geneva American Legion say they are pleased with the property purchase offer.

Earlier this year a different developer than the one recently pursuing the property pulled out of consideration. Most considered that to be a significant setback, but it turned out to be the best case scenario.

The Lochland Road property was taken off the market, then placed back on the market- or at least that’s what appeared to happen during on-and-off considerations for its future.

Commander Dale Mosher told the Finger Lakes Times that if the sale goes through the Legion will receive a considerably larger chunk of money from developer Pine Ridge Construction Management of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The sale price will be disclosed after the deal closes.

“It worked out really well,” Mosher told the Times. “I was shocked (at the purchase price offer).

The sale is contingent on rezoning. Plans for the property include condos, a five-story hotel, and restaurant with craft brewery.

A smaller, more modern, practical facility will be the next home of the Geneva Legion. They expect to move forward with their relocation soon. Mosher believes this is the best case scenario for everyone involved- the Legion, City of Geneva, and local economy- adding to a prime location.
