RIT men’s hockey announces 2021-22 schedule

RIT men’s hockey coach Wayne Wilson announced the schedule for the 2021-22 season, Wednesday. The Tigers’ 35-game regular-season slate features 15 home dates along with their annual Brick City Homecoming game at Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester.

“We have a great schedule for this coming season, but we are most excited about playing in front of our great fans again,” said Wilson, who enters his 23rd season on the Tiger bench. “We can’t wait to see our friends and family back in the stands, along with the Corner Crew, the Pep Band.”

RIT kicks off the 60th season in program history on Saturday, October 2, hosting Colgate at the Polisseni Center. Following a trip to Army (Oct. 8-9) to open Atlantic Hockey play, the Tigers will take on St. Lawrence (Oct. 16) in the Brick City Homecoming game.

RIT will travel to the Midwest the following week to take on host Notre Dame (Oct 21-22) twice before returning home to close the month with two games opposite conference-rival Mercyhurst (Oct. 29-30).

November starts with back-to-back Atlantic Hockey road trips to AIC (Nov. 5-6) and Canisius (Nov. 12-13) prior to a home series with Holy Cross (Nov. 19-20) and a pair of road game with first-time opponent Princeton (Nov. 26-27).

Army invades the GPC (Dec. 11-12) for the lone two games during a four-week December stretch, while an home exhibition with Brock (Ontario) is on the books (Dec. 29) to close 2021.

The Tigers will kick off the New Year with a trip to Sacred Heart (Jan. 1-2), before welcoming Arizona State for two games (Jan. 14-15) two weeks later for the final non-conference games of the season.

RIT then hosts Niagara (Jan. 21) in the first of only four home games over the remaining 12 contests on the schedule to close the regular season. The Tigers return the favor the following day at Niagara (Jan. 22) before closing the month at Bentley (Jan. 28-29).

AIC comes to town (Feb. 4-5) before the Tigers head to Mercyhurst (Feb. 11-12) and Niagara (Feb. 18). RIT hosts the Purple Eagles (Feb. 19) to close the home portion of the schedule before heading to Air Force (Feb. 25-26) to wrap up the regular season.
