On Sunday around 8 p.m. police responded to the area of Floral Avenue in the city of Ithaca for the report of gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and were unable to locate any evidence of a shooting. Around 8:40 p.m. officers were notified by the Tompkins County 911 Center that a subject had walked into the emergency room at the Cayuga Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
IPD responded but despite multiple attempts- were only able to obtain limited information about the incident. Police said the victim and potential witnesses were not cooperative.
Using the limited information that was provided- investigators were able to locate the scene of the shooting, which was a wooded area adjacent to Floral Avenue.
At the scene three expended projectile casings were located. The scene was photographed, processed, and evidence was collected by investigators.
The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. Police say he has since been released.
The investigation remains active- as does the search for the suspect. Police said there appears to be no threat to the public. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 607-272-3245.
